Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will join our fertility-focused laboratory in Lagos, delivering high‑quality diagnostic services that support time‑sensitive reproductive treatments. You will work closely with reproductive endocrinologists, embryologists and nursing staff to ensure accurate and rapid test results.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specialised andrology and fertility diagnostics, including comprehensive semen analysis, sperm preparation for ART/IUI, and hormonal assays (FSH, LH, Prolactin, Estradiol, AMH, Progesterone).
• Conduct general clinical pathology tests such as full blood counts, blood grouping, serology and microbiological investigations.
• Manage the full sample lifecycle: collection, processing, analysis, validation and documentation while preventing any mix‑ups.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot complex laboratory instrumentation, performing daily quality‑control checks and keeping detailed equipment logs.
• Enter and report results via the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with strict adherence to data confidentiality and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with fertility specialists to align diagnostic insights with ongoing treatment cycles and meet strict turnaround‑time targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent.
• Current practising licence from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
• At least two years of hands‑on experience in a clinical laboratory; experience in an IVF or fertility clinic is a strong advantage.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong specimen‑tracking ability and commitment to data integrity.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
