Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

This position is essential for ensuring accurate and efficient handling of laboratory specimens from receipt through processing, upholding the highest standards of quality and patient care in a clinical setting.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including culture, sensitivity, and pathogen identification.
• Analyze specimens such as blood, urine, tissue, and other body fluids.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, quality assurance, and safety standards.
• Record and interpret results accurately and communicate findings to healthcare providers when required.
• Participate in continuous education and training programs.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS).
• Valid license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
• Minimum 3‑5 years post‑NYSC experience in a medical laboratory with strong microbiology expertise.
• Familiarity with good laboratory practice.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
