Mechanical Technician – Milling & Packaging Equipment

About the role

The Mechanical Technician (Fitter) will install, inspect, maintain and repair mechanical systems and milling machinery to ensure safe operations, minimise downtime and improve equipment performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair mechanical equipment used in milling and packaging operations.
• Conduct routine inspections, complete maintenance reports and carry out preventive maintenance according to schedules.
• Respond promptly to mechanical faults and breakdowns, and document all work performed.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogues.
• Request spare parts, tools and materials needed for maintenance tasks.
• Follow Occupational Health and Safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing, milling or packaging environment.
• Good mechanical troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Attention to detail, accuracy and strong commitment to safety.
• Capability to work under pressure and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns.
