Mechanical Technician L1 & L2

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is hiring a Mechanical Technician (Level 1 and Level 2) for its Ibese plant. The technician performs a range of tasks covering the fabrication, installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of mechanical equipment, instruments and structures used in the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with shift technicians to identify faulty equipment and effect prompt repairs
• Implement standard operating procedures for maintenance and carry out corrective maintenance on assigned equipment
• Perform work order repairs, inspections and adjustments, and replace minor fixtures in plant machines
• Ensure safety precautions are followed and PPE is worn during repairs and scheduled maintenance
• Take weekly inventory of working tools and keep them maintained and tidy
• Clean operating equipment, report breakdowns or stoppages over 30 minutes to sectional engineers, and attend to breakdowns quickly
• Carry out brief analysis of breakdown jobs and ensure no breakdowns occur on groups taken for maintenance until the next preventive maintenance date
• Enter spare parts and consumables data into the ERP system (e.g. SAP) and complete daily checklists
• Participate in plant safety, health and environmental programmes and identify potential OHS hazards

Required profile

• SSCE plus 10 years of experience
• Trade Test I in a mechanical trade with 8 years of relevant experience
• Trade Test II in a mechanical trade with 16 years of relevant experience
• OND in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of the cement production process
• In-depth knowledge of cement packing machines, their functions and procedures
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment accurately and quickly
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
