Mechanical Engineer - Power Plant

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for its Ibese Plant power plant. The engineer plans, schedules and supervises predictive, preventative, corrective and overhaul maintenance of all power plant equipment, including electric generating, steam producing, material handling, rolling stock and associated plant, so that the plant runs reliably, safely and in an environmentally compliant way.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and manage preventive and predictive maintenance on gas turbines and associated balance-of-plant equipment, based on equipment performance, maintenance records, safety requirements and best practice.
• Ensure turbine swaps and the 4,000-hour running turbine inspection are carried out correctly and on time.
• Review and improve maintenance processes and make sure maintenance staff are trained and follow established procedures and standards.
• Manage a comprehensive maintenance program, forecast manpower and equipment needs, and evaluate, schedule and budget it to optimise cost effectiveness, work quality, outage time and availability.
• Maintain the records required for NIS ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 18001:2007 compliance.
• Enforce accident prevention and occupational health procedures, and ensure safekeeping of materials, tools and equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 6 to 8 years of industrial experience.
• In-depth knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and of mechanical maintenance in a cement plant.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards required by law and regulation.
• Excellent time management, planning and scheduling skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good oral and written communication and leadership skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.
