Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer ensures reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of mechanical equipment and production systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role focuses on equipment availability, safety, efficiency and compliance with GMP, SOPs and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Maintain and repair production equipment such as mixers, granulators, tablet presses, capsule machines, coating machines, packing equipment, conveyors, pumps and compressors.
• Support installation, commissioning, qualification and validation of new machinery.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend reliability and productivity improvements.
• Conduct routine inspections of machines, pipelines, pumps, valves, bearings and gearboxes.
• Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders and technical reports.
• Participate in equipment breakdown analysis, root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering; professional certification is a plus.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, FMCG or manufacturing environments.
• Practical experience in industrial equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and working with GMP‑regulated equipment.
