Mechanical Engineer - Heavy Earth Moving Machinery

About the role

Dangote Industries is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work at its Ibese plant. The engineer designs, analyses, develops and maintains heavy earth-moving equipment and its components used in mines, and works with cross-functional teams to deliver projects successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical maintenance of the mine's heavy earth-moving equipment properly and safely, as required by the mines.
• Train subordinates so that mechanical maintenance is done on time and correctly.
• Keep job areas and the plant clean and tidy.
• Plan spare parts requirements.
• Follow up regularly on NIS, ISO 19001-2015, ISO 14001-2015 and ISO 45001-2018 requirements and keep the records.
• Ensure compliance with mining industry standards and regulations.
• Monitor and evaluate mechanical systems while operating to spot and fix problems.
• Give technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Stay up to date with advances in mechanical engineering for heavy earth-moving equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and materials science.
• Excellent mathematical skills, including advanced geometry, calculus and physics.
• Creative thinking, strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Good interpersonal skills, teamwork and clear verbal and written communication.

Required skills

• Familiarity with CAD and other mechanical design software.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and machine mechanics.
