Litigation Associate

About the role

The Litigation Associate will handle a variety of contentious matters, including drafting pleadings and motions, preparing legal opinions, and managing case files from inception through resolution. The role involves close collaboration with senior attorneys to develop litigation strategies, communicate with clients, and ensure that deadlines and procedural requirements are met.

Key responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions and other litigation documents with attention to procedural rules.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analyze case law and statutes.
• Prepare and attend court hearings, including managing filings and courtroom advocacy.
• Assist with depositions, including preparing outlines, reviewing transcripts and coordinating witnesses.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to formulate litigation strategies and communicate with clients.
• Support business development by contributing to thought‑leadership pieces and maintaining professional relationships.

Required profile

• LL.B and B.L with admission to practice law in Nigeria.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and civil litigation principles.
• Proficiency in drafting motions and other litigation documents.
• Advanced legal research skills and experience using legal databases.
• Familiarity with court procedures, filing requirements and hearing preparation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical ability and sound judgment.
