Data Privacy & Protection Director

About the role

The Data Privacy & Protection Director will lead Moniepoint’s data privacy strategy, ensuring compliance with the Nigerian Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and related regulations. You will shape policies, oversee impact assessments, and manage breach response to protect personal data and the company’s reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Implement a data privacy governance framework, including Binding Corporate Rules, to meet NDPA requirements.
• Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
• Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new products and projects.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the Nigeria Data Privacy Commission and other regulators.
• Handle queries, complaints, and notifications from regulators, law‑enforcement agencies, and data subjects.
• Coordinate with IT and information security teams to ensure systems comply with privacy regulations and maintain breach response and data retention plans.
• Deliver privacy training to employees, third‑party processors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct routine privacy audits and support external regulatory audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, IT, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience in data protection, compliance or related fields, with deep knowledge of NDPA 2023.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CIPM, CIPP, CPT, CDPSE or CDPO are highly preferred.
