Lead Safety Engineer

About the role

The Lead Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safe design of offshore facilities in line with company requirements, project specifications and international standards. This senior position coordinates safety engineering activities across EPC contractors and specialised consultants, promoting Safety‑in‑Design throughout all project phases.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, review and approve all safety studies and risk assessments, including HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS, QRA, fire and explosion risk assessments, and SIL assessments.
• Supervise EPC contractors and consultants, ensuring timely delivery, consolidation of comments and approval of safety engineering deliverables.
• Maintain the Safety Action Register, track recommendations from safety studies and ensure their close‑out.
• Support the development and maintenance of Major Accident Hazard Registers and manage Safety‑Critical Elements and associated performance standards.
• Interface with process, layout, instrumentation, installation, commissioning, operations, and HSE teams to integrate safety requirements into design and execution.
• Review design modifications, assess impacts on project risk profile and manage technical deviations, concessions and change requests.
• Provide procurement support for safety‑related technical requisitions, specifications and vendor documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety engineering for offshore or oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of international safety standards and company safety policies.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex technical interfaces.
• Excellent analytical skills to identify, assess and resolve safety‑related technical issues.
