Lead Chef

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Chef to oversee kitchen operations at our hospitality venue in Guzape, Abuja. The successful candidate will combine expertise in continental and Nigerian cuisine with strong leadership to deliver high‑quality dishes and profitable kitchen performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily kitchen activities to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Prepare, supervise and coordinate the preparation of continental and local dishes.
• Design, update and innovate menus for variety, creativity and profitability.
• Maintain consistent food quality, taste, portion size and presentation.
• Control food costs and portion sizes to meet budget targets and reduce waste.
• Lead, train and supervise kitchen staff, fostering high performance standards.
• Monitor inventory, manage stock levels and ensure proper ingredient storage.
• Uphold strict food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
• Coordinate workflow during peak hours to ensure timely order delivery.
• Conduct quality checks on all dishes before service.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Lead Chef, Head Chef or Sous Chef in a restaurant or hotel.
• Strong knowledge of both continental and Nigerian cuisine.
• Excellent leadership, supervision and team‑management abilities.
• Solid understanding of menu planning, portion control and food cost management.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
• Attention to detail, consistency and high standards of food presentation.
