Lead Applications Engineer – Drilling & Completion Fluids

About the role

The Lead Applications Engineer will own the delivery of drilling and completion fluid services, working closely with Service Delivery Coordinators and cross‑functional teams to ensure flawless execution from planning through post‑job analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Baker Hughes internal Job Cycle processes.
• Collaborate with sales and service delivery to understand client objectives, contract terms, and commercial expectations.
• Perform offset job analysis, engineering modelling, and hazard assessments for fluid applications.
• Design job programs with risk mitigation and contingency plans to meet client goals and maximize revenue.
• Document calculations, simulations, and plan revisions for audit and team visibility.
• Provide on‑demand technical support during job execution and compare planned vs. executed outcomes to capture lessons learned.
• Participate in field incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective‑action implementation.
• Advise on product improvements and support sales with application recommendations.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in drilling and completion fluids, including mud‑plant operations and service delivery coordination.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Hands‑on experience with high‑performance water‑based, oil‑based, and specialty fluid systems.
• Proven ability to interact daily with clients and travel to rig sites or customer facilities.
• Completed Drilling Fluids Academy (mud school) and NYSC requirement.
