Junior Accounting Associate

About the role

Chowdeck, an on-demand delivery service for Africa, is looking for a Junior Accounting Associate to join its Finance Team. The role reports directly to the Finance Manager and supports financial operations through accurate and timely recording of transactions, maintenance of financial records, account reconciliation and contribution to the organisation's financial health.

Key responsibilities

• Manage general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and vendor financial reporting transactions
• Manage vendor cash flow and ensure timely settlement to vendors and partners
• Prepare annual, monthly and weekly revenue, profit and expense reports for managers, stakeholders and external analysts
• Maintain relationships with vendors and partners and represent the company to banks and financial institutions
• Oversee vendor accounts and reporting systems for regulatory compliance
• Ensure strong internal controls and finance process compliance
• Help define financial projections for vendors, prepare financial reports and statements, support audits and assist month-end and year-end closing

Required profile

• 0-1 year of related finance or finance-related experience
• Bachelor's degree (minimum 2nd class upper honours), accounting or finance preferred
• Solid experience in financial analysis and forecasting, including three-statement financial modelling and statistical reporting
• Professional qualification in progress (ICAN, ACCA, CFA, CPA, CIA or CISA)
• Strong priority management, oral and written communication and intellectual honesty
• Bonus: experience in a Big Four, top-tier consulting firm, fintech, financial institution, e-commerce or logistics company

Required skills

• Accounting software knowledge (Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)
• Three-statement financial modelling
