IT Manager – Lagos & Kano

About the role

The IT Manager will lead the IT function for the British Council’s main offices in Nigeria, focusing on the Lagos and Kano locations. The role is responsible for day‑to‑day delivery of IT services, technical support, and ensuring alignment with global information security and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain IT infrastructure in Lagos and Kano, ensuring it is fit‑for‑purpose and risk‑managed.
• Support the delivery of IT projects in line with business needs and strategic direction.
• Maintain security and integrity of IT systems, including GIS and non‑GIS environments, meeting minimum standards.
• Manage relationships with the Global Service Desk and GIS to handle incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
• Ensure compliance with British Council IT policies, security standards, software licensing and equipment disposal.
• Line‑manage IT Support Officers, delegate tasks, and drive performance and development.

Required profile

• Proficiency in English at B2 level (all four skills).
• MCP Windows 2016 certification.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an IT personnel role.
• Legal right to work in Nigeria; no relocation or visa support provided.
