About the role
The Instrumentation & Automation Technician is responsible for the routine maintenance, calibration and modification of instrumentation and automation equipment across HBM Nigeria’s cement manufacturing facilities. The role ensures spare parts availability, supports production processes and helps minimise downtime.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot process control systems, including PLCs, sensors, actuators and field instruments.
- Interpret circuit diagrams, schematics and manuals to diagnose faults.
- Repair, adjust or replace defective components and perform minor modifications to support production.
- Install new control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment under supervision.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, pre‑start‑up tests and generate detailed maintenance reports.
- Use SAP for work scheduling, planning and execution while ensuring safety.
- Collaborate with Central Control Room Operators to diagnose field instrument faults.
- Calibrate level, pressure, temperature, flow, weight sensors and related transmitters according to manufacturer specifications.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 4–5 years post‑graduation experience in instrumentation, automation or plant maintenance.
- Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes and related quality parameters.
- Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently.
