Infectious Disease Surveillance Pilot Field Officer (Consultant)

About the role

PATH is seeking an entry‑level Consultant to support the STRIDES project in Nigeria. The Pilot Field Officer will conduct rapid assessments of infectious disease surveillance systems and help scale up event‑based and community‑based surveillance across selected states.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a rapid landscaping assessment of human, animal and environmental health surveillance platforms.
• Support the scale‑up of event‑based (EBS) and community‑based surveillance (CBS) in Adamawa, Enugu, Kano and Lagos.
• Adapt and roll out training materials for EBS, CBS, IDSR and zoonotic disease preparedness, including workshop facilitation and post‑training follow‑up.
• Review and update SOPs, job aids, guidelines and communication tools.
• Organise mentorship and peer‑learning sessions for health workers.
• Monitor IDSR implementation and digital health information systems, performing data entry, validation and basic analysis.
• Coordinate with state‑level partners, prepare reports, meeting minutes, action trackers and training summaries.
