Hydraulic Engineer – Stormwater & Drainage Design

About the role

The Hydraulic Engineer will be a hands‑on design professional responsible for the full lifecycle of hydraulic, drainage and water infrastructure design for Alaro City. You will size drains, channels and culverts, model flood networks and produce construction‑ready drawings, calculations and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological analysis, rainfall‑runoff estimation and IDF derivation using Rational Method and SCS/SUDS approaches.
• Size road and site drainage networks (gullies, inlets, pipes, channels, culverts, swales) using Manning and Colebrook‑White methods.
• Design Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) such as permeable paving, bioretention, filter strips, swales and detention/retention ponds in line with the CIRIA SuDS Manual.
• Perform flood risk assessments and develop hydraulic models (e.g., HEC‑HMS) to derive design flows.
• Produce detailed design documentation, construction‑ready drawings, specifications and Bills of Quantities.
• Coordinate design with planning, roads, structural and MEP teams and verify installations on site.

Required profile

• Hands‑on design professional with experience in hydraulic and drainage design.
• Ability to carry out flood risk assessments and hydraulic modelling.
