Technical Analyst – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role

The Technical Analyst will support Distributed Renewable Energy Enhancement Facility (DREEF) in designing, assessing and delivering distributed renewable energy (DRE) projects across West Africa. The role combines technical due‑diligence, engineering design, and financial modelling to ensure projects meet lender bankability criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Review and integrate Lender Technical Due Diligence Criteria into DREEF’s standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with InfraCredit technical officers to align information and output requirements for project finance lenders.
• Design mini‑grid projects, including geospatial site assessment, demand modelling, distribution network planning, generation system design and financial modelling.
• Conduct technical feasibility studies and performance analysis of DRE projects.
• Prepare technical specifications for procurement, documentation for approvals, and detailed reports for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of power systems design, project engineering and DRE execution, including technical due diligence and quality assurance.
• Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end technical delivery of multiple projects, including BoQ preparation, load assessments and power flow studies.
• Strong capability to work as a technical interface with Finance, Legal, ESG, Procurement and other cross‑functional teams.
• Knowledge of national technical standards (NERC, SONCAP, REA) and experience ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and managing cross‑functional project teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with engineering and simulation tools such as HOMER, PVSyst and Helioscope.
• Expertise in power flow studies, BoQ preparation, load assessments and sizing models.
• Ability to perform geospatial assessments, demand modelling and financial modelling for renewable energy projects.
