About the role
The Humanitarian Safety Technical Officer will support the creation and daily operation of the Humanitarian Safety Unit for the North‑West region of Nigeria. The role works within the Nigeria INGO Forum to provide a member‑owned safety coordination mechanism for humanitarian actors.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, convene and facilitate safety coordination meetings and roundtables for INGO Forum members across the North‑West.
- Develop, validate and disseminate safety information products, including the 6Ws database and quarterly operational reports.
- Maintain a voluntary incident database, analyse trends and produce information to aid preparedness and decision‑making.
- Identify capacity‑development needs and coordinate logistics for HEAT, SSAFE or equivalent safety training.
- Maintain regular liaison with government authorities and humanitarian coordination stakeholders.
Required profile
- Compliance with NRC, NIF and donor policies.
- Ability to set proactive agendas and facilitate NGO collaboration.
- Understanding of political and policy contexts affecting localisation and programme implementation.
