Human Resources Assistant

About the role

The Human Resources Assistant will support daily HR operations for OTrauma Victims Initiative (OTVI) in Yola, Nigeria. Working on‑site, you will help maintain employee records, assist recruitment, and contribute to a trauma‑informed workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update employee records and the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
• Assist recruitment activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
• Coordinate benefits administration and ensure accurate enrollment documentation.
• Support onboarding, orientation, and staff development initiatives.
• Organize training sessions and workshops for team members.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and respond to employee inquiries.
• Collaborate with management and program teams to align HR processes with OTVI’s mission.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of HR practices and ability to support HR management activities.
• Experience with HRIS and maintaining accurate employee data.
• Knowledge of benefits administration, enrollment, and employee communication.
• Ability to assist with training coordination, onboarding, and development programs.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and confidentiality skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication and collaborative work with diverse teams.
• Proficiency in basic office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email).
• Prior experience in a nonprofit, humanitarian, or trauma‑informed setting is an advantage.
• Relevant diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
