HSSE Manager

About the role

Dangote Packaging Limited is looking for an HSSE Manager to lead the factory's HSSE management strategy. The role holder sets up practical controls for the plant's HSSE operations, protects employees, contractors, visitors, assets and the environment, and supports safe, reliable and compliant production. The position provides safety and health at work leadership across the plant and its contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and review factory SOPs and maintain an integrated HSSE management system aligned with legal requirements, group standards and recognized safety principles
• Lead risk assessments, job safety analyses, management of change reviews and permit-to-work systems (hot work, isolation, work at height, lockout/tagout)
• Ensure effective guarding, interlocks and safe operating procedures for production machinery, and provide suitable PPE
• Maintain a register of legal obligations, coordinate permits, licences and statutory inspections, and interface with regulators and auditors
• Set up exposure assessment and health surveillance programmes, and control manual handling, ergonomics, sanitation and welfare facilities
• Identify environmental aspects and controls for emissions, wastewater, waste and spills, and manage regulated waste
• Maintain emergency plans, test fire detection and suppression systems, train emergency teams and organize drills
• Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents, lead root-cause analysis and track corrective actions to closure
• Build a competency-based training matrix, coach line leaders and encourage hazard reporting without retaliation
• Support contractor prequalification, inductions and performance monitoring, and set controls for visitors and temporary workers
• Plan site inspections, audits and management reviews, produce regular reports and benchmark performance
• Have authority to stop work, require isolation of unsafe equipment and escalate serious breaches to plant leadership
