About the role
The HMO Officer will act as the primary link between the clinic and health‑maintenance organisations, ensuring that patient coverage is verified and that claims are processed accurately and promptly. This role supports the financial health of the facility by managing authorisations, billing, and dispute resolution in a fast‑paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Verify patient coverage and obtain pre‑authorization codes from HMOs for consultations, medications and procedures.
- Prepare, submit and track medical bills and claims to insurance providers.
- Serve as the main point of contact between the clinic and multiple HMOs.
- Follow up on unpaid invoices and resolve rejected or delayed claims.
- Respond to patient and HMO inquiries regarding coverage status, billing discrepancies and related issues.
Required profile
- HND in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- 1‑2 years of hands‑on experience in medical billing, claims processing or HMO management.
- Strong understanding of medical coding and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
