Head of Technology (AI Healthcare Platform)

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Technology to lead the development of AISHA, an AI‑powered healthcare assistant serving users across Africa. Reporting to the executive team, you will shape the technical vision, ensure platform scalability, and drive innovative AI solutions that meet clinical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with product and business goals.
• Lead architectural decisions across AI, backend, frontend and data layers.
• Oversee development, fine‑tuning and responsible deployment of NLP and LLM models for symptom checking and health recommendations.
• Build, mentor and manage a cross‑functional team of engineers, AI/ML researchers and data scientists.
• Establish engineering best practices: agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews and documentation.
• Own cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), ensuring high availability, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with data‑privacy regulations (NDPR, HIPAA) and lead cybersecurity and incident response.
• Manage vendor integrations such as EHR systems, telehealth APIs and payment gateways.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in technology, preferably within health‑tech or AI domains.
• Strong track record of delivering large‑scale, secure, and compliant platforms.
• Excellent ability to translate clinical and product requirements into technical specifications.
