Head of Strategic & Reputational Risk Management

About the role

The Head of Strategic & Reputational Risk Management will design, implement and lead the bank’s framework for managing strategic and reputational risks. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will act as a proactive guardian of the bank’s reputation while ensuring risk strategies support overall business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously assess strategic risks and align them with the bank’s long‑term goals.
• Embed strategic risk considerations into senior‑level decision‑making processes.
• Identify, monitor and mitigate reputational risks arising from operational failures, regulatory breaches, negative publicity or stakeholder dissatisfaction.
• Develop and execute crisis‑response plans to limit reputational damage.
• Prepare and present periodic risk reports for executive management and the Board Risk Committee.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Corporate Communications and business units to ensure a cohesive risk approach.
• Engage external stakeholders such as regulators, media and industry bodies to stay abreast of emerging risk trends.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Strategic & Reputational Risk Management team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Accounting or related field.
• Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
• Professional risk‑management certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 8 years of post‑qualification experience in risk management within the banking sector.

Required skills

• Proficiency with analytics and visualisation tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• Ability to link reputational risks to financial performance indicators.
• Strong analytical skills for early‑warning signal detection.
