Head of Stores – Obajana Plant

About the role

The Head of Stores will lead all store and inventory functions at the Obajana Plant, ensuring safe, efficient and accurate handling of materials, spare parts and consumables. This senior position reports to senior management and works closely with procurement, production, maintenance and mining teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and coordination for Store Managers in receiving, issuing, inventory management and mines stores.
• Ensure strict compliance with inventory control policies, documentation standards and HSE requirements.
• Develop and implement procedures for receiving, issuing, inventory reconciliation and asset protection.
• Monitor continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce stock losses, obsolete inventory and inefficiencies.
• Oversee accurate posting of receipts, issues, transfers and adjustments in ERP/WMS systems.
• Coordinate cycle counts, inventory audits and reconciliations with internal and external auditors.
• Present monthly inventory reports, ageing analysis and shrinkage summaries to senior management and finance.
• Train, mentor and manage store staff, fostering discipline, accountability and teamwork.
• Collaborate with procurement, logistics, production, maintenance and mining to ensure material availability and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain clean, secure and organized store environments and documentation systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Purchasing, Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in warehouse/stores receiving operations in heavy industry, manufacturing or cement sector.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Professional certifications such as CIPS, CIPSMN, APICS, SCMP or equivalent.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of ERP/WMS systems.
• Experience with SAP or Oracle is an advantage.
