About the role
The Bank is seeking an experienced Head of Risk, Audit & Compliance to design, implement and oversee its enterprise risk management, internal audit and regulatory compliance frameworks. Reporting to the MD/CEO and working closely with the CFO and Head of Operations, the role ensures safe, profitable operations in line with CBN guidelines and prepares the institution for a future National MFB licence.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Risk Management Framework, risk appetite statement and enterprise risk register aligned with CBN MFB and Prudential Guidelines.
- Identify, assess and monitor credit, operational, liquidity, market, compliance, strategic and reputational risks across all branches and business lines.
- Conduct periodic stress testing and scenario analysis for growth initiatives and present findings to senior management and the Board Risk Committee.
- Maintain credit risk policies, underwriting standards, concentration limits and provisioning processes in compliance with CBN regulations.
- Design and execute a risk‑based internal audit plan covering branches, business lines and support functions, reporting findings to the Board Audit Committee.
- Perform audits of financial controls, credit processes, branch operations, IT systems and regulatory compliance.
- Track audit findings, ensure timely remediation and support external audits and CBN examinations.
- Monitor full regulatory compliance with CBN MFB Guidelines, BOFIA 2020, AML/CFT regulations, KYC/CDD requirements, Consumer Protection Framework and NDPA 2023.
- Act as the Bank’s Compliance Officer and AML/CFT Reporting Officer, overseeing CDD, EDD and sanctions screening.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading risk, audit and compliance functions within a microfinance or banking environment.
- Strong knowledge of CBN MFB Guidelines, Prudential Guidelines, BOFIA 2020, AML/CFT regulations and related Nigerian legislation.
- Ability to collaborate with senior executives and support Board Risk and Audit Committees.
- Demonstrated capability to develop scalable risk frameworks and audit plans for future national licensing.
