Head of Contract Management

About the role

The client, a leading indigenous EPCIC company in the oil, gas and energy sector, is looking for a senior professional to lead its Contract Management function. The role safeguards commercial interests across complex projects by ensuring contractual compliance, proactive claims handling and effective dispute resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead negotiation, review and administration of EPCIC contracts, framework agreements, service contracts and sub‑contracts.
• Establish and maintain standardized procedures, templates and governance protocols across all projects.
• Advise executive management on risk exposure, liabilities and commercial implications.
• Maintain a centralized digital repository of contracts and oversee renewals/terminations.
• Proactively manage variations, EOT claims, compensation events and contractual notices.
• Coordinate claim preparation and defence, and support dispute avoidance through negotiation.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, milestones, reporting requirements and performance indicators.
• Secure back‑to‑back obligations in sub‑contracts and oversee subcontractor commercial performance.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian regulatory requirements (NOGICD Act, DPR/NUPRC) and align contracts with international frameworks such as FIDIC, LOGIC and NEC.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in contract management within EPC or oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian regulatory environment and international EPC contract standards.
• Proven ability to lead negotiations, manage claims and resolve disputes.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to advise senior management on commercial risk.
