Head of Construction – Nigeria

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Construction to oversee the full lifecycle of multiple projects across Nigeria. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on site management to ensure timely, high‑quality delivery in challenging environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end project execution from planning and design coordination to procurement, mobilisation, construction, and handover.
• Supervise site activities, ensuring quality across structural, finishing, and MEP/service installations.
• Review structural designs for constructability, efficiency, and alignment with site conditions.
• Coordinate with design, planning, procurement and project teams to maintain smooth execution.
• Monitor progress, reduce delays, minimise rework and boost productivity.
• Manage site engineers, supervisors, foremen, subcontractors and labour forces.
• Enforce safety, discipline and operational efficiency on‑site.
• Plan resources and timelines to meet milestones and delivery targets.
• Act as the primary technical and managerial lead for assigned projects.

Required profile

• 15–20 years of experience in residential, commercial or infrastructure construction.
• Strong background in civil engineering, construction methodologies and structural detailing.
• Proven track record reviewing and supervising structural design, reinforcement detailing and load‑path analysis.
• Previous senior roles such as Senior Site Engineer, Project Manager, Construction Manager or Technical Manager.
• Leadership experience managing teams in low‑skill labour environments, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Building Technology.
• Excellent English communication and coordination skills.
