Facilities Officer

About the role

The Facilities Officer will ensure seamless operation, maintenance, and optimisation of all facilities within the African Medical Centre of Excellence, Abuja. The role covers physical infrastructure, utilities, and related systems to provide a safe, clean, and functional environment for world‑class medical services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and oversee maintenance of patient care areas, diagnostic centres, and specialised medical units.
• Coordinate repairs, renovations and preventive maintenance schedules to minimise disruption to critical healthcare services.
• Maintain an accurate asset register for medical and non‑medical infrastructure and ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
• Ensure HSE compliance, perform risk assessments, and develop emergency response and hazardous waste disposal procedures.
• Monitor and manage utilities such as water, power, HVAC and backup systems to guarantee uninterrupted operation of life‑critical areas.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors for equipment maintenance, biomedical services and other specialised support.
• Track utility performance, implement energy‑saving initiatives and provide reports for operational improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Estate Management or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of facility management experience, preferably in a healthcare or high‑standard operational setting.
• Proven ability to manage vendors, contractors and complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of HSE standards, local and international facility management regulations.
• Professional attitude, proactive organisation and high integrity.
