Painter & Handyman for Hospital Facility

About the role

The Painter/Handyman will maintain and improve the appearance and functionality of the African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja. This full‑time onsite role involves painting, minor repairs and general facility upkeep to ensure a safe, clean environment for staff and patients.

Key responsibilities

• Perform interior and exterior painting and decorating in patient rooms, corridors, offices and common areas, using non‑toxic paints and adhering to safety standards.
• Carry out minor repairs such as fixing leaks, doors, windows, furniture and basic electrical or plumbing issues, minimizing disruption to hospital operations.
• Conduct routine checks on fixtures, equipment and building elements, addressing small problems before they become major.
• Maintain clean work areas, store tools safely and dispose of waste according to hospital and regulatory guidelines.
• Coordinate maintenance requests with other departments, manage inventory of paints and supplies, and support larger renovation projects.

Required profile

• High school diploma; vocational training or certification in painting, carpentry or a related trade is preferred.
• Proven experience handling a variety of maintenance tasks in a large institutional or healthcare setting.
• Ability to work independently, follow safety procedures and maintain detailed records of work performed.

Required skills

• Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation and appropriate finishes.
• Proficiency with basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical maintenance.
• Competence in using painting tools and equipment safely.
