Head of Commercial Lending

About the role

OmniPay is seeking a commercially driven and strategically minded Head of Commercial Lending to lead business development, customer acquisition and lending growth across multiple customer segments. The role reports to the Director of Financial Services and suits a leader who can spot lending opportunities, build strategic relationships, lead a team to meet targets and collaborate across functions while keeping lending within established credit policies and risk controls.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to grow the commercial lending business across segments, and identify new opportunities, partnerships and customer acquisition channels.
• Lead the commercial lending team to create viable lending opportunities, build relationships with customers and work with internal teams to move qualified deals through the lending process.
• Monitor lending performance and emerging portfolio risks, and ensure compliance with credit policies, risk parameters and internal controls.
• Escalate suspected fraud, irregularities and material credit risks through the proper channels.
• Partner with credit, risk, operations, finance, collections and recoveries teams to support the lending lifecycle and use data to improve performance.
• Lead, coach and develop the team, set clear priorities and performance expectations, and build a results-oriented, accountable culture.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in commercial lending, business banking, SME financing, financial services or related fields.
• Track record in business development, customer acquisition, relationship management or lending portfolio growth.
• Experience leading teams and delivering measurable commercial outcomes.
• Candidates with banking experience, including former or current branch managers with commercial banking, lending and business development exposure, are encouraged to apply.
