About the role

The Head of Biomedical Engineering will lead the design, development, and maintenance of advanced medical technologies that support patient care across the African Medical Centre of Excellence. This senior position combines hands‑on technical work with strategic planning to ensure that all biomedical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the biomedical engineering team in evaluating, selecting, installing, and maintaining a wide range of medical devices.
• Collaborate with clinicians to tailor technologies to specific clinical needs and ensure optimal performance.
• Oversee calibration, validation, and compliance of diagnostic imaging systems, life‑support machines, and other critical equipment.
• Drive strategic planning for the hospital’s biomedical infrastructure, advising on acquisitions and large‑scale projects.
• Provide training and education to clinical staff on proper use and maintenance of equipment.
• Participate in research and development activities to innovate and improve biomedical technologies.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in biomedical engineering within a hospital or similar healthcare setting.
• Proven leadership ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with clinicians, IT specialists, and regulatory bodies.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and project management for biomedical infrastructure.
