Head, Energy Sourcing & Regulatory Relations

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is looking for a Head, Energy Sourcing & Regulatory Relations to provide strategic leadership for energy sourcing, with primary responsibility for coal procurement, supplier and vendor management, and regulatory stakeholder engagement. The role ensures a reliable, cost-effective and quality-compliant supply of coal to support uninterrupted cement production, while driving alternative energy and fuel-sourcing opportunities. It also leads commercial negotiations, builds supplier partnerships, manages supply-chain risks and maintains relationships with government institutions and regulatory agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the energy sourcing strategy, with coal procurement as the main focus, and select, evaluate and negotiate with coal suppliers on price, quality, delivery and payment terms.
• Manage a network of suppliers, energy providers and logistics partners, including due diligence, performance standards, contract management and alternative sourcing arrangements.
• Engage with government ministries, regulators and public-sector stakeholders on permits, licences, duties and tariffs, and coordinate the acquisition and renewal of permits with Legal and Compliance.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory developments and compliance risks, and benchmark sourcing costs against market indicators.
• Work with Production, Logistics, Finance, Quality Assurance and Plant Management to forecast demand and optimise procurement and inventory.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Logistics or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, energy supply, commercial operations or supply-chain management, including significant leadership experience.
• Strongly preferred: experience in coal procurement, mining, energy, cement manufacturing or other heavy industries, and experience engaging government institutions and regulators.
• Desirable: professional certification such as CIPS.
