Head, Actuarial Services

About the role

Estrada International Staffing Solutions is recruiting a Head of Actuarial Services, a senior leadership role responsible for the actuarial function of an insurance organisation. The role sets strategy, oversees valuations and reserving, leads pricing and product development, supports risk and capital assessment and builds and develops the actuarial team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the actuarial function, establish methodologies, processes and governance, and advise executive management
• Oversee insurance liability and technical provision valuations, including claims development and reserve adequacy
• Lead actuarial input into product pricing, profitability analysis and new product development
• Support business planning, budgeting and forecasting through financial models and scenario analysis
• Conduct scenario analysis and stress testing, and provide actuarial input into capital management and solvency assessments
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, prepare actuarial reports and maintain supporting documentation
• Strengthen the use of actuarial models and data quality, and turn complex outputs into clear business recommendations
• Lead, coach and develop the actuarial team, set performance objectives and support succession planning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or a related quantitative discipline
• A recognised professional actuarial qualification; membership of a recognised actuarial body is an advantage
• Significant professional actuarial experience, preferably in insurance
• Experience leading or managing an actuarial function or team
• Experience working with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders
