General Manager - Travel & Tourism

About the role

JV Management Consulting Limited is hiring a General Manager in Lagos, Nigeria, to lead a travel and tourism business. The role covers strategy, operations, finance, business development, HR and customer service, with performance measured against revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement business strategies, set priorities and targets, and advise management on performance and growth opportunities.
• Oversee daily operations, coordinate departments such as sales, marketing, customer service, reservations and ticketing, and ensure accurate booking and tour delivery.
• Monitor budgets, cash flow, profitability and financial reports, working with the finance or accounts team.
• Drive business development with the marketing and sales teams, build relationships with airlines, hotels and corporate clients, and expand travel packages and services.
• Lead department heads and staff, take part in recruitment, training and performance reviews, and identify staffing needs.
• Set customer service standards, resolve escalated complaints and monitor satisfaction and retention.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards, manage risks, and prepare regular management reports.

Required profile

• HND in Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in business management, operations or administration, including team management.
• Experience in travel and tourism, hospitality or service-based businesses is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant business management tools.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, decision-making, communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
