Financial Controller

About the role

Obek Group, a construction firm operating in Nigeria, is seeking a Financial Controller to partner with its micro‑enterprises (MEs). The role focuses on real‑time cash management, unit‑economics optimisation and financial reporting to support fast‑moving business units.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain real‑time visibility of cash positions for each ME and forecast runway.
• Analyse profitability of products/services, advise on pricing to protect margins.
• Build lightweight financial models for scenario planning (e.g., hiring decisions, price changes).
• Oversee day‑to‑day bookkeeping, ledger maintenance and internal transfer pricing using the company’s automated platform.
• Produce weekly and monthly P&L statements for each ME, ensuring accurate cost and revenue attribution.
• Monitor financial guardrails, issue early warnings and prepare data for group‑level consolidation.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hands‑on accounting or financial management experience, preferably in startup finance, fractional accounting agencies or divisional accounting.
• Ability to translate complex ledgers into clear business advice for non‑financial founders.
• Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities and building dynamic tracking tools.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online or scalable ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills for modelling and reporting.
