Financial Accountant – Aviation Finance

About the role

The Financial Accountant will ensure accurate accounting records and timely financial reporting for United Nigeria Airlines. Working within the Finance & Accounts department, the role supports month‑end and year‑end closing processes and provides critical data for management decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts and other financial reports.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and clear suspense items each month.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities, ensuring timely completion.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, compute depreciation and oversee asset capitalization.
• Participate in physical verification and asset reconciliation exercises.
• Provide schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies and statutory requirements.
• Supervise finance team members to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or ICAN) with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the aviation industry.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as Odoo, SAP or Sage.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
