Finance Specialist - Controllership

About the role

The Finance Specialist – Controllership will partner with business teams across West Africa to ensure accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with both local statutory requirements and Baker Hughes policies. This role is central to driving process simplification and operational excellence within the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain general accounting and policy application for all cycles, including inventory, revenue recognition, receivables/payables, and intercompany transactions.
• Interpret and apply Enterprise Standards, SOPs, and Process Maps to deliver globally competitive financial processes.
• Advise functional managers on accounting approaches, processes, and procedures.
• Lead medium‑sized projects and contribute to larger initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and measurable impact.
• Drive ownership of controllership initiatives, monitor key controllership metrics, and ensure compliance with local statutory, US GAAP, and Baker Hughes policies.
• Collaborate with corporate finance teams to implement new accounting standards and strengthen internal controls.

Required profile

• Thorough understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
• Ability to communicate complex accounting concepts to cross‑functional teams.
• Experience managing accounting cycles and leading project workstreams.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement.

Required skills

• Knowledge of US GAAP.
• Understanding of local statutory accounting standards.
• Experience with inventory, revenue recognition, and intercompany accounting.
