Finance Manager

About the role

The Finance Manager will lead the financial operations of a school in Abuja, ensuring accurate reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role reports directly to the School Director and works closely with department heads to drive sound financial decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial activities including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with financial regulations and school policies.
• Prepare and present annual financial statements and manage the annual budgeting process.
• Produce monthly and quarterly management reports, variance analysis, and expenditure reviews.
• Supervise tuition and fee collection, manage debtor records, and enforce credit control policies.
• Handle payroll processing, statutory deductions, and bank reconciliations.
• Maintain the school asset register and oversee procurement approvals.
• Ensure timely statutory filings, tax returns, pension, and PAYE remittances.
• Lead and develop the finance team, providing guidance and performance oversight.

Required profile

• Mid‑level finance professional with at least 48 months of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Experience in managing tuition/fee collections and payroll in an educational setting is preferred.
• Ability to liaise with external auditors and advise senior management on financial risks.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
