Finance Associate (Fund Accounting)

About the role

Alitheia is looking for a motivated Finance Associate to join its finance team in Lagos. The role gives early-career professionals hands-on experience in fund accounting, supporting accurate financial records and assisting with reconciliations, month-end closing and the preparation of financial statements under IFRS.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain daily accounting entries across all entities, keeping proper classification and documentation.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoices, employee expense claims and disbursements to portfolio companies.
• Oversee the general ledger and its schedules, backed by supporting documentation.
• Run monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, intercompany transactions and balance sheet items, resolving discrepancies.
• Support month-end and year-end closing with accruals, prepayments and journal entries.
• Monitor multi-currency exposures and flag significant variances for management.
• Help prepare management accounts, fund-level financial statements and notes under IFRS, and support statutory statements and Statements of Affairs under CAMA 2020.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for board packs, LP reports and internal reviews, and keep audit-ready files.
• Collaborate with auditors on statutory and fund audits, and uphold internal controls, approval workflows and regulatory filing deadlines.
• Assist with invoicing, fee calculations, cash flow monitoring and short-term forecasting, and give ad hoc support to the Finance Manager and operations team.
