Finance Assistant

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture is looking for a Finance Assistant to support daily financial operations at its Abuja station. This is a three‑year renewable contract position that offers exposure to a well‑structured finance environment and the use of Oracle ERP tools.

Key responsibilities

• Process payments and disburse funds for approved daily financial transactions.
• Assist in preparing and compiling fund requests to support operational activities.
• Maintain accurate records for cash advances, travel advances, and expense reports.
• Support the preparation of withholding tax schedules and related statutory documentation.
• Create and process invoices within the Oracle Accounts Payable system.
• Assist with monthly financial computations and timely upload of data into the Oracle platform.
• Provide support for Oracle invoicing, incoming funds management, and other administrative finance functions.
• Assist in the preparation and management of station imprest accounts.
• Reconcile bank statements for all station bank accounts.
• Prepare cash certificates, payment vouchers, and other supporting financial documents.
• Respond to financial inquiries and provide assistance to internal stakeholders.
• Maintain organized filing systems and ensure proper custody of financial records.
• Perform other finance and administrative duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required profile

• BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in a similar finance role within a well‑structured environment.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion handling confidential information.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle Applications.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
