Accountant

About the role

The Finance team is seeking a proactive Accountant to support day‑to‑day cash management, financial reporting and compliance. You will work closely with the Finance Director to ensure accurate records, timely filings and strong internal controls across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with the Finance Director on cash management and implement finance policies.
• Maintain accurate financial records and prepare statutory financial statements.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, analyse variances and advise management.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and file returns on time.
• Coordinate with external auditors and meet audit requirements.
• Analyse financial data to identify trends, forecast performance and recommend improvements.
• Maintain strong internal controls to prevent fraud and errors.
• Support payroll preparation, benefit reconciliations and regulatory remittances (VAT, WHT, pension, PAYE, NHF).
• Assist with insurance, pension and HMO documentation and management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.
• 3‑5 years of relevant experience.
• ICAN or ACA certification is an advantage.
• Experience in financial reporting, tax and auditing.
• Deep knowledge of managerial accounting concepts (ratios, IRR, gearing, etc.).
• Excellent mathematical and data‑entry abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency with SAGE accounting software.

What we offer

• Salary NGN 400,000‑600,000 per month.
