Female Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead the development, review and implementation of financial policies, procedures and strategies aligned with the company's objectives. You will support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning while providing actionable insights for management decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and update financial and accounting policies, procedures and strategies.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and budget review processes.
• Analyse financial data and translate performance into actionable information for management.
• Participate in budget retreats, management reviews and other business planning activities.
• Maintain accurate double‑entry accounting records and ensure timely posting of transactions.
• Conduct daily call‑overs, investigate exceptions and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
• Perform weekly reconciliations of petty cash, invoices, receipts and stock‑related records.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and resolve unusual items.
• Prepare financial reports, management accounts, cash‑flow reports and interpret variances for management.

Required profile

• First degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Full membership of ICAN or equivalent (ACCA, CIMA, etc.).
• 3‑5 years progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, statutory compliance and payroll.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax, pension and labour regulations.
• Experience in retail, consumer goods or multi‑branch environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Sage accounting software.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with SAP or comparable integrated business management platforms.
• Exposure to letters of credit and import finance processes.
• Experience supporting internal or external audit processes.
