Farm Accountant – Agricultural Sector

About the role

The client in the agricultural sector is seeking a dedicated Farm Accountant to manage financial operations for farm activities. This role combines traditional accounting expertise with a deep understanding of agricultural practices to support profitability and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records for farm operations, including income, expenses, and inventory.
• Monitor cash flow, budget variances, and financial performance against targets.
• Prepare financial reports and statements for management decision‑making.
• Analyze production costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Oversee inventory tracking for inputs, supplies, and harvested crops.
• Prepare and submit tax returns, government reports, and regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies during audits.
• Support annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and scenario modeling.

Required profile

• HND/BSc in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in agriculture or agribusiness.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic farm environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
