Executive Director

About the role

The Executive Director will provide strategic, organisational and operational leadership for the Agatha Valentine Hope Foundation (AVHF). Working closely with the Founder and Board of Trustees, the Director will translate the foundation’s mission into effective programmes, partnerships and sustainable resource mobilisation to improve women’s reproductive health in underserved Nigerian communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and set long‑term direction for the foundation.
• Oversee organisational and operational management, ensuring efficient systems and processes.
• Guide programme design, implementation and impact measurement.
• Lead fundraising, donor engagement and resource mobilisation activities.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with NGOs, government, healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
• Manage financial planning, budgeting and resource allocation.
• Lead, mentor and develop the foundation’s staff and volunteers.
• Represent AVHF externally and communicate its mission and achievements.
• Ensure governance, compliance and accountability standards are met.

Required profile

• Legal authorization to work in Nigeria and willingness to reside in Abuja.
• Demonstrated passion for women’s reproductive health and underserved communities.
• Advanced degree in management, medicine, public health, social work or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in the nonprofit, development or social‑impact sector.
• Proven senior or middle‑management leadership experience.
• Experience in organisational management, team leadership and programme oversight.
• Track record in fundraising, donor engagement and partnership development.
• Strong understanding of the Nigerian nonprofit environment.
• Experience in reproductive health, women’s health or public health is an advantage.
