Events Manager
OPay · Lagos
Job description
About the role
OPay, a mobile money platform licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, is looking for an Events Manager to join its Integrated Marketing & Communications (IMC) team in Lagos. You will own the events function, covering OPay's own external and business-led events and its presence at industry events, while supporting wider marketing work. You report to the IMC Lead.
Key responsibilities
- Link every event to a clear brand goal and a clear business goal, and plan events against the yearly budget, showing return on cost.
- Turn event requests into briefs with goals, audience, budget, timeline and KPIs.
- Plan and deliver OPay's own events from concept to post-event report, running the run of show, guest lists, branding, logistics and on-site management.
- Work with sales, partnerships, brand, creative and PR teams so events support wider business and campaign plans.
- Find and assess industry events (fintech, banking, retail, tech, SMEs), recommend which to attend, speak at or sponsor, and manage OPay's booth, branding and speaking slots.
- Build relationships with event organisers and industry bodies.
- Support integrated campaigns, on-ground activations and BTL work, and write briefs for creative, content and production work.
- Prepare budgets and cost breakdowns, source and manage vendors and agencies, and keep clear records of spend.
- Report on results against goals, spend against budget and brand visibility, and share lessons learned.
Required profile
- 4-6 years in marketing, with at least 3 years focused on events, agency or in-house work.
- Delivered corporate or brand events for 300+ guests and managed a brand's presence at industry events, conferences or expos.
- Broad marketing experience: campaigns, activations, partnerships or brand projects.
- Experience managing budgets and several vendors at once, and working within formal approval and procurement processes.
- Clear, timely written updates and reports; willing to travel and work some evenings and weekends.
- Nice to have: fintech, banking, FMCG or telecoms experience; a network of event organisers in Nigeria; sponsorship or speaking-slot experience; a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.
