Embedded Systems Engineer

About the role

Miri Africa is looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer to design, develop and bring to production embedded hardware and firmware solutions. You will work across mechanical, software and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, low‑power products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded systems from concept through production.
• Write, maintain and optimise firmware in C/C++ for ARM Cortex‑M microcontrollers (STM32 preferred).
• Design, prototype and debug electronic circuits, perform board‑level testing and validation.
• Integrate sensors, displays, actuators and implement communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, USB, RS‑485, Ethernet, BLE, Wi‑Fi, LoRa or Cellular.
• Troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and debuggers.
• Prepare technical documentation, schematics and test procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong proficiency in Embedded C/C++.
• Experience with ARM Cortex‑M MCUs, especially STM32.
• Solid understanding of digital electronics and embedded hardware design.
• Ability to read schematics and datasheets and use version‑control systems (Git).
