Electrical Instructor (Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos)

About the role

A leading multinational mechanical and electrical contracting company, recruited through eRecruiter, is hiring an experienced Electrical Instructor in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. The instructor delivers theoretical and practical training in electrical trades based on Nigeria's National Occupational Standards for Construction/Building Trades, teaching essential electrical skills and their real-world application.

Key responsibilities

• Teach electrical tools, wiring systems, safety procedures, reading electrical drawings and specifications, and the installation, modification and repair of electrical systems.
• Provide hands-on training with electrical instruments such as multimeters and insulation testers, and cover joining and bending PVC pipes, drill bits and power drills, fasteners and motor control systems.
• Maintain the electrical workshop, keep tools and equipment secure, manage the procurement of materials and tools, and maintain the training facilities and hostel.
• Update lesson plans, learning objectives and course materials; evaluate students through practical and theoretical assessments.
• Instruct on CAD software such as AutoCAD for electrical layouts and models.
• Work with the Training Manager to update course content on the LMS, integrate videos, weekly tests and exams, prepare progress reports, mentor new trainers and manage training material inventory.
• Take part in field visits to industrial and commercial sites to expose trainees to real-world practice.

Required profile

• HND or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 6 years of practical experience in the construction industry, focused on electrical systems.
• Registration with COREN and other bodies is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and codes, and to stand for long periods and handle heavy equipment.

Required skills

• Installation of three-phase distribution boards and motor control panels.
• Testing according to the IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition (BS 7671:2008), hazard identification and safe isolation of supplies.
• Use of Kewtech Kewprove 3 proving unit and Kewtech KT35 digital insulation/continuity tester.
• Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills, and experience with modern educational technology.
