Education MEL Associate – Lagos

About the role

R-DATS is looking for a hyper‑local Education Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Associate to serve as the primary on‑the‑ground operational anchor for a large‑scale foundational education assessment project across public primary schools in Lagos State.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Abuja team in facilitating training workshops for Lagos‑based enumerators and lead daily supervision sweeps during baseline and endline data collection.
• Conduct eligibility verification spot‑checks, interview caregivers and community leaders, and perform quality‑assurance re‑testing using rapid citizen‑led assessment tools.
• Validate placement and attendance by cross‑matching digital entries with physical classroom registers during random school visits.
• Upload geotagged entries via KoboToolbox and Tangerine mobile interfaces and carry out routine data cleaning under guidance of the MEL Coordinator.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Statistics, Economics, Education, Social Sciences, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 3–5 years of progressive field‑level M&E experience in Nigeria, specifically with the public education sector in Lagos State.
• Proven experience training, onboarding, and supervising enumerators for large‑scale baseline, midline, or endline studies.
• Deep knowledge of Lagos State LGAs and fluency in English plus a local language.
• Willingness to spend 50–60% of working hours in the field traveling across Lagos.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mobile data collection tools such as KoboToolbox/KoboCollect, Tangerine, ODK, or SurveyCTO.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data cleaning and analysis.
• Experience administering early‑grade learning assessments (EGRA, EGMA, ASER, LearNigeria) or similar citizen‑led tools.
