Driver & Logistics Assistant for EU Support to End SGBV

About the role

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) is seeking a Driver and Logistics Assistant to support its EU‑funded programme to end sexual and gender‑based violence (ESGBV) in Nigeria. The role is based in Abuja and provides safe, secure, and efficient transportation for staff, consultants, and programme resources, as well as logistical support for workshops, meetings and office operations.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out driving missions assigned by supervisors or state project coordinators.
• Provide transport assistance to staff and consultants involved in project delivery.
• Communicate transport arrangements clearly and promptly.
• Arrange advances for journeys and adhere to agreed timelines.
• Support logistical set‑up for workshops, meetings and events.
• Ensure vehicles are serviced, conduct routine checks, and report defects.
• Perform daily internal and external vehicle maintenance checks, keep vehicles clean and refuel as needed.
• Maintain vehicle logbooks, journey and fuel records.
• Handle routine mail dispatch, distribute incoming mail and newspapers, and assemble media clips.
• Assist in physical set‑up of meeting rooms.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence and proven experience in vehicle operation.
• Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Strong organisational skills for managing transport schedules and documentation.
• Clear communication skills for coordinating with staff and external partners.
• Willingness to work onsite in Abuja and travel as required.
